We recently held an Author's Celebration to showcase the fantastic writing of our students. We sent the following invitation to parents.
The students had published some non-fiction pieces to present to parents. We had a great turn out and parents were very enthusiastic. Students sat at tables waiting for parents to sit at their table to hear their book. They looked really sweet sitting at big tables and on big chairs waiting to share. The parents were great and really went around to hear a lot of students. We provided coffee and tea for parents as well. The event took about 40 minutes. The children also had the opportunity to wander around and listen to other children's books. All in all, it was a success.
I'd love to hear if other teachers do this event and how it can be done differently.
